Shopping bags are now an important piece of marketing for most retail companies and brands. It gives them the chance to have a small piece of advertising wherever their newly acquired customer goes. What an inexpensive way to continually splash your marketing around the city centre, or busy shopping mall, especially since they provide a bag regardless. Social causes can use this support to grab the attention as well!
You will generate and report on your own "advertisement" and complete the following:
1. Artistically design a unique retail shopping bag for a brand of choice,- (Nike) in hard copy (take a picture of your completed product once constructed). Careful consideration should be given to ensure the bag design is appealing to the target market consumers of the brand and include the brand logo, slogan, visual(s) and materials which align with the "personality" of the brand (ie. fun, serious, high tech, environmental, etc.).
2. prepare a report that addresses the following:
a) How would you segment your target market (demographics, psychographics or geographic)? Explain why this would be the best or most effective method.
b) Who is the target market? Why? Explain how your bag is designed for or reflective of this target audience.
c) This product could be considered both a need and a want. Explain why this is the case.
d) List and describe at least 3 ways that you could advertise and promote this product.
e) Name two brands you would have to compete with in the marketplace. Why would they be considered competition? How might you try to gain an advantage over them?
