Should police officers be accountable for crime increases and decreases in their area? To be specific, suppose crime rose in your town. Should the chief of police be held to answer for this and if crime continues to increase, should he not be fired? Be sure to discuss why or why not, and keep in mind that research demonstrates that policing can be effective at reducing crime. Another thing to keep in mind, is whether crime is the only measure of police productivity. How else can we measure police effectiveness?
