Show me the steps to solve Problem 1[Required]: The following is a floor plan for a 2304 sq ft reading room in a library (60 psf ). The concrete columns are 25 ft in length and have an elastic modulus (E) of 3370 ksi . The concrete slab (=150pcf) is 6 inches thick. The beams which are directly supported by the girders are W12x87 steel sections and the girders are W18x86 steel sections.
Column B2. Calculate and draw the unfactored loading on one of the interior beams (include the selfweight of the beam). Keep the live load and dead loads separate on your Free Body Diagram.
(b) Calculate and draw the unfactored loading on girder A2 B2(include the self-weight of the
beams). Keep the live load and dead loads separate on your Free Body Diagram.
(c) Draw the shear and bending moment diagram of the interior beam in (a) and the girder in (b)
(assuming simply supported end conditions). Label moment and shear at the ends and midspan
of the beam. For this case you may add the live and dead loads together.
(d) Calculate the unfactored loading demand on column B2(neglect the self-weight of the
columns). Keep the total dead load and live load separated in your calculations.
(e) Will column C buckle if the ends are pinned (k=1,0)?
