Silicon Valley is known for having "Brogrammer" Culture. Studies have found that while female-led venture-backed companies tend to earn more revenue than male-led companies, women are significantly underrepresented among the tech companies of Silicon Valley, long a male stronghold.

Watch Reshma Saujani's TED talk "Teach Girls Bravery not Perfection." In her 13-minute presentation, Saujani, founder of the nonprofit organization, Girls Who Code, discusses why we as a society need to teach our girls to be brave, not perfect.

Consider using the following discussion questions:

• Discuss the issues women and individuals of minority face in technical companies. Based on what you read/watched, and your own personal investigation on the topic, why do you think there are still issues of discrimination in the workforce? Is this only an issue in technology companies? What other areas might you find such disparities?
• How might managers create a culture of inclusion? Discuss the impact of hiring a more diverse workforce. Is it enough to create a culture of inclusion? Explain. Provide specific examples of what managers might to do change company culture in order to make it more inclusive.
