Smith sees Bart run a red light. Off. Smith pulls Bart over and, during the traffic stop, Off. Smith sees what she believes, based on her training and experience, to be a charred crack pipe in the ashtray. Off. Smith removes Bart from his car, places him in the back of her cruiser and searches his car. In the closed center console, Off. Smith locates a baggie of crack cocaine. Under the front seat, Off. Smith finds a loaded handgun. She then opens the trunk and finds several opaque-wrapped bricks of what is later determined to be heroin. Off. Smith then arrests Bart and turns him over to another officer. Off. Smith then drives Bart's car to the station and continues the search where she finds more heroin.
