Soil properties should be determined using soil boring, as shown in Figure # $1.$ Any assumptions made must be justitied and for the entire soil assume a Gs $=2\mathrm{.}60.$ With the soil profile, soil properties such as modulus of elasticity, angle of friction and all necessary mechanical properties of the soil should be determined.

The layout of a group of footings somewhere in the interior of a braced frame structure is shown in Figure # $2.$ Depth of founding of all footings must be the same and should be selected based on tables given in class. Tributary loads at each footing are shown at each grid line, as well as the reinforcement of each column. The size of each column is given in the figure, and the columns are built with $4500-$psi concrete and has six No$.8$ longitudinal bars with fy$=60$ ksi. The foundation is built with fc$\text{'}=3700$ psi and fy $=60000$ psi. A rectangular combined foundation, square isolated foundation $($with settlement$),$ wall footing, rectangular isolated foundation, and the foundation for the circular column must be designed.
