Southern Utility has three vendors that supply the electricity needs of four cities. The cost of sending 1 million kwh of electricity from a vendor to a city depends on the distance the electricity must travel. The associated supply of each vendor and demand of each city (in 1 million kwh) as well as the transportation cost is given in table 1 below. Southern Utility wants to find the minimum cost distribution plan to meet the demand at four cities. Formulate the problem using LP and find the optimal solution.
