The following questions should be helpful identifying industrys CSF:
- Why consumers prefer Company A over Company B or vice versa?
- What resources, capabilities and competences firms possess?
- What sustainable competitive advantages companies have in the industry?

- Each critical factor must be assigned a weight. This number indicates how important the factor is in succeding in the industry. To assign the weights, first check the best performing companies and determine their strenghts and most prominent activities. The sum of all weights must equal 1.0.
Step 3. Determine the competing companies that will complete your analysis.

Using a number from 1 to 4, (where 4 means major strength, 3 means minor strength, 2 means minor weakness and 1 means major weakness) indicate the companies rating.
