Statement on the assignment

We hear about data everywhere. Whether it is supposedly gathered by a popular social media app, providing information about one favorite professional athlete, or being used as evidence for a new medical breakthrough, data is everywhere. Statistics involves the collection, analysis, and interpretation of all types of data.

In this period, one will learn how we can use data to make informed decisions about various real-world problems. There are tons of application of statistics and each of your personal interests can likely be related to statistics in some ways.

Below are questions that must be answered to one best ability. Please note, it's important to answer in line with one's interests.

Q1. What are the three interests of yours that can somehow be tied to data or statistics (again, please answer honestly)

Example: Sports, finance, medicine, or education

Q2. For Q1 of your interests list above, what is a research question you have?

Example: Which NFL quarterback is the most accurate? What percentage of investors in the stock market have a net positive return? What is the best medication for treating the flu, drug A or drug B. Are lectures or interactive activities better for student learning?

Q3. Try to speculate here, what data would you need to answer your question?

Example: NFL QB completion percentages, return on investment data for various investors, average time to cure of flu patients taking drug A or drug B, or average grades for students in a lecture-based class and average grades for students in an interactive-based class.
