Statistical Analyses
Data Screening
Use the schools-a.sav dataset to analyze the data as indicated and provide answers to the questions.
Description of the data set:There are 64 cases and 21 variables. The unit for analysis is the "schools" variable, thus you will be examining data for this set of 64 schools. You will only be using two of the 21 variables in this analysis, as described below.
"medloinc" is a categorical variable where "0" represents the group of schools who were below the median for "low income %" and "1" represents the group of schools who were above the median for "low income%"
"act94" is a continuous variable representing the average ACT score in each school
Please answer the following questions and attach all requested answers and output.
1.How many participants have missing values for medloinc and act94?
2.Is there a severe split in frequencies between groups of medloinc? What are the percentages?
3.Create a boxplot for each group to determine if there are outliers on act94.Write a few sentences to describe the distribution for each group and discuss and compare outliers across the groups.
4.Create histograms, normal Q-Q plots, and tests of normality. What is your conclusion regarding normality. If a transformation is necessary, which one would you use.(You can refer to the handout distributed in class or the p. 34 of Mertler and Vannatta, Figure 3.3)
5.Do the results from Levene's test indicate homogeneity of variance?Explain what the test specifically examines and indicate what the results mean in the context of the variables in the dataset.
