Step 1: Find a Journal Article

Locate a journal article that uses statistics within your own discipline or an area of interest to you. To access scholarly articles, I recommend using the free, online library resources provided by Park University. You can access them through the following link: Park University Library.

Step 2: Read the Paper with a Focus on the "Results" Section

Now that you have selected a journal article, it's time to dive into the content. As you read the paper, pay particular attention to the "Results" section

Step 3: Identify Statistical Procedures

How many statistical procedures can you identify? (For example, t-test, mean, standard deviation, etc.). This might take some additional research to unpack; consider looking ahead in your textbook for help. (6 pts)

Step 4: Interpretation

Can you discern how these statistical procedures (results) relate to the research question of interest or the topic of the research study? Additionally, consider whether you have any critiques of the authors' findings or their interpretations. Do you agree with their conclusions? While I understand that this is the first week of class, developing the mindset of being a critical consumer of research is crucial! (8 pts)
