STEP 1: PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION

Identify a problem (e.g., work, school, personal) that you can solve using Organizational Behavioral (OB) Problem-Solving techniques. You may select from the examples below or choose your own problem.

A. Write 1 - 3 paragraphs describing your problem and the OB Problem-Solving technique that can be used to solve the problem.

Examples of typical work-related problems:

working with an unreasonable supervisor

absenteeism or turnover issues

conflict with coworkers

Examples of typical school-related problems:

deciding on or changing one's major

raising one's grade point average

time management

Examples of typical life problems include:

weight loss or physical fitness

stopping smoking

individual assertiveness

STEP 2: DEVELOP A SOLUTION

Develop a solution for your problem with a step-by-step action plan including at least 3 steps.

B. Write 1 - 3 paragraphs describing the steps in your problem solution. Each step requires a completion date (e.g., says, weeks, months, years, specific dates, etc.). Be specific with your steps.

STEP 3: MEASUREMENT

Develop a measurement plan to evaluate the effectiveness of the solution. Often you will need pre- and post-solution implementation data to demonstrate improvement. Use objective measures. Scales, surveys, data points, etc., are objective measures of change.

C. Write 1 - 3 paragraphs describing how you would measure the effectiveness of your solutions (i.e. surveys, scales, other tools, etc.).

• Measures need to be objective. Consider surveys, data points, tools as objective measures. (Weight loss uses a scale.)
• Often you will need both pre- and post-solution data to demonstrate improvement. Consider this when developing your measurements.

PROBLEM-BASED RESEARCH

Choose at least 2 Evidence-Based sources/research for this assignment. You will want to demonstrate why your problem is an issue, how your solution might fix the issues, what good measurements might be...all using available research.

D. Incorporate the research into your paper where appropriate
