In his first 90 days in his new role he decides to spend the time meeting with each employee in the company individually. During these meetings he asks what they about their job, what they see for the future of the company and what motivates them at work. The conversations are amazing Jhon leaves each meeting feeling grateful and excited. He received many emails and a lot of feedback that employees loved ! meetings. After all the meetings are done, Jhon develops a vision for the future of the company based on what he heard from employees and his ideas about the future. When he shares the vision with employees, he can see that the employees are exci and motivated about the direction the company is headed. His first 90 days are a success and the future looks promising! Jhon called into the head office after 3 months and told he is wasting time and needs to get moving on his next steps. It seems he is perceived by this person as a talker and the CEO even mentions his generation as being all play and no work. How can OB concepts explain some of what is happening here? He is determined to work as hard as he needs to succeed in this role. This is his first job in this field. He sees that his new boss, Kathryn, is inspiring, visionary and forms strong relationships with her team He also sees that Kathryn values team members who are creative and take initiative Rajan is more used to getting some clear guidance from those who manage him and has been quiet and shy in meetings. In his last job at a fast food outlet, Rajan worked for a manager who micro managed his work used punishments for work not up to requirements, and didn't focus on him as a person.
