Student responded to a peers post with a different biologically relevant fact and a source for it. Student asks a question about their peers represented taxa meme.

In response to your peers, take your classmate's post and add an additional biologically relevant fact about the species or concept represented (in either cartoon or meme form) and ask one question about the taxa for your classmate to answer.

Peers post:

The biological concept I am introducing with this meme is the symbiotic relationship between a shark and a remora fish. The remora fish will use their suction abilities to attach themselves to the belly of a shark. This allows the remora fish to feed off the shark's scraps or leftovers. The remora fish will also eat any parasites that are on the shark's skin or mouth, preventing the shark from being irritated or harmed. The shark, in return, protects the remora fish from other predators and gives them transportation across the ocean. The species for the fish is Remora remora, and for the shark, it will be a variety of different species. However, it has been known that sandbar sharks and lemon sharks do not allow remora fish to attach themselves. Therefore, those two shark species are excluded from this symbiotic relationship.

I chose this cartoon because it is two species that are observed together often, but I didn't know what their relationship was. I wanted to learn a bit more about the topic. I also love learning about sharks and rays, so I take every chance I can to learn something.
