Students will analyze and create an elevator pitch and value proposition statement.
Components for an Elevator Pitch
An elevator pitch should be about 60 seconds (please do not ramble on and on). The
elevator pitch should be compelling and elicit a next step from the prospect. Before you
start, think of your pitch as telling a story. People LOVE stories and you, yourself, love
stories too! Therefore, have a pitch that tells a compelling story and gets the prospects
attention. As you develop your elevator pitch, please consider a few or all of the
elements listed below:
Introduce yourself and your company.
Create credibility by discussing what problems your company can solve.
o What does your company specialize in solving?
Enhance your credibility by stating some compelling facts (select a few ideas
below) about your company, such as:
o Number of years in business
o Number of clients
o Number of locations
o Awards and achievements
o Growth over the last X years
o Remember that buyers want to buy from a trusted and reliable company.
Therefore, make your company sound AMAZING!!
Discuss clients (name drop) or industries that you excel in, thus further building
your companys credibility and your credibility.
You must provide solutions with a compelling value proposition (refer to the
Value Proposition Generator).
Remember, it is a compelling and insightful story.
Is this the only method for elevator pitching??? Nope! Please see the videos in
the PPT from our class lecture.
