Students will submit a complete Case Analysis for Unilevers using the Course Template. This case can be found at the back of your textbook. You are expected to submit a complete, detailed analysis using the template provided in Unit One. For this case, you are to determine an external threat/opportunity to the company from the case material. This will be your Key Issue(s) for your case analysis. Each of your External Analysis Tools should focus on your chosen opportunity/threat. Each of your Internal Analysis Tools should focus on how the company aligns with that chosen opportunity/threat. You are to use the course Case Submission Template in its entirety. (NOTE: All cases are found at the back of the textbook.)

1- Name of company (Unilever) and explain why you chose this company. What is it about this company that interests you to do a research paper?

2. What is the purpose-driven mission, inspiring vision, and core values of the organization? Does it appear to you that the company is living up to them? In other words, do actions reinforce words? Give examples.

3. EXTERNAL ANALYSIS: Study the external environment for your firm. Are any changes taking place that might have a positive/negative impact on the industry? Apply the PESTEL framework to identify those important factors. What will be the effect on your industry?

4. Apply the Five Forces Model to your industry. What does this model tell you about a firms profit potential and the nature of the competition within your industry?

5. Identify any strategic groups that might exist in the industry. Which group does your company operate in? How does the intensity of competition affect its success?

6. How dynamic is the industry in which your company is based? Is there evidence that industry structure and trends are reshaping competition, or has done so recently?

7. EXTERNAL/INTERNAL BRIDGE: Perform a full SWOT analysis for your firm. Remember that strengths (S) and weaknesses (W) are internal to the firm while opportunities (O) and threats (T) are external. Prioritize the strategic actions you would recommend to the company.

8. INTERNAL ANALYSIS: Identify the core competencies at the heart of the companys competitive advantage. Keep in mind, core competencies are the essential competencies which provide the value to the market that differentiate your company from the competition.

9. Study the internal resources, capabilities, core competencies and value chain of your company. A good place to start is to catalog the companys assets. List the tangible resources. Make a separate list of the intangible resources.

10. Use the VRIO framework to identify the competitive position held by your firm. Which of these resources are helpful in sustaining the firms competitive advantage.
