Suppose the rate of disease in an unexposed population is 10% with a rate in the exposed population of 20%. You hypothesize an exposure has a relative risk of 2.0. How many persons must you enroll assuming half are exposed and half are unexposed (Tip: Ratio of Unexposed to Exposed in sample - If there are to be an equal number of unexposed and exposed, then enter the value of 1.0; if there are to be twice as many unexposed as exposed, enter the value of 2.0, etc.) to detect this increased risk? (alpha)= 0.05 and 90% power?
