Section 1 Business Case
Opportunity Statement
Airports these days are highly crowded and that has created a lot of problems. For example, people have started missing flights due to airlines being overcrowded and constant traffic. There are apps and websites that airlines and airports have for themselves, but there is a gap in communicating real-time live traffic footage and information inside the airport. For example, how long the TSA line is at any given airport, how long it will take to check in a bag, if flights change, people can be notified, if there seems to be more traffic at the airport that is unusual the app can recommend you leave earlier, how do we get from one terminal to the other (some airports are huge) and require a lot more time. So, if people are unfamiliar with airports, it saves a lot of stress and anxiety.
The proposed product will be a one-stop app for everything concerning airports which will make a traveler's experience more seamless and less stressful. Airports and traveling are essential in today's world and there is a gap in making this experience feel less confusing and difficult. This app will try to make a traveler's journey as smooth as possible and keep you prepared for unexpected issues. It will be a resource for people who are overstressed, anxious, and have a hard time being on time to places. It will be a navigational resource tool in helping individuals when planning airport trips.
Business Objective
EasyGo application will help travelers navigate through an airport, assist them with information to make their airport experience easy, and offer them different in-app features to efficiently manage their time.
The product will be rolled out to customers in a phased manner. Following are the features grouped by phases:
Phase 1:
Navigation through the airport inclusive of:
- Airport Map integration for Tier 1 cities
- Support in English
- Real-time TSA waiting times
- Navigation between terminals
- Real-time schedule of trains
- Restrooms, restaurants, baggage claim locations
- App-based taxi service locations
Phase 2:
- Partner with Restaurants
- Real-time food ordering via application
Phase 3:
- Partner with airport services which includes ordering wheelchair, access, and buying passes for business / first class lounge
Launch of EasyGo
EasyGo will be available on iOS and Android devices. It will be available for download from the Apple Appstore and Android Play store.
Pilot Phase
EasyGo will be rolled out to Pilot users initially. The application team will identify the pilot users and plan features that would need certification. Following activities would need certification during the pilot phase:
- Map accuracy
- Accuracy on real-time information for TSA and Trains
- Robustness and Resilience
- Defects and Open Issues
- Performance of the application under load
- Legal Disclaimers and Disclosures
- Age group
Rollout Strategy
EasyGo will be made available for download to all customers on Apple Appstore as well as Android Play store at no cost.

Target Market
A good product requires key identification of the correct target market to consume it and use it adequately. Our ideal target audience for such a state-of-the-art product are constant travelers, who directly suffer from the trouble of navigati.ng through sophisticated airports. We will try to group these constant travelers using 4 key demographic measures
- Gender
- Profession / Occupation
- Location
1. Age group
Young, curious, and tech-savvy millennials are nonetheless the most travelers among any age group in the US. Millennials travel the most with about 35 vacations per year (Condor Ferries, ND).
The best way to market our product to this tech-savvy age group will be through social media. An average millennial spends an average of 2 hours and 38 minutes on social media per day, on Facebook (Djordjevic, 2021). Thus, Facebook is a smart and strategic marketing tool to reel our millennials.
2. Gender
Although it might be a little difficult to give the title of "constant travelers" to a single-gender and might seem sexist, an interesting survey recently announced 80% of all travel decisions are made by women (Bond, 2021).A good marketing tool to target our female audience is Pinterest since 76% of all Pinterest users are females
3. Professions
A good start would-be business owners and college students. Business owners are constantly traveling to monitor their business, manage logistics, and host meetings. On the other hand, college students are constantly traveling to and from their hometowns and site seeing with friends.
4. Location
People living in big cities are predicted to travel more compared to residents of smaller cities. Thus, starting from big airports and narrowing down to smaller airports is a smart and strategic monetizing move.
Resource Requirements
If this proposal gets approved, several new teams will need to be hired to develop/deploy/maintain this app.
To begin with, leased office space or a rented shared workspace would be needed, depending on whether remote work is allowed with an option to come to the office once/twice a week, together with a secure internet connection. Also, there would be a need for physical assets like laptops, mobile phones for testing, VPN (Virtual Private Network) set-up, etc. There may also be a need to buy some software subscriptions which would be needed for the continuous integration and continuous delivery of the software developed. We would need product managers, software developers for android and iOS app development, UI/UX designers, engineering managers/leaders, back-end support team for cloud infrastructure deployment, SRE engineers, business stakeholders, operations & liaison team & a product marketing team.
The product owners would be the coordinating authority for organizing any implementation plans. Specific budget/cost estimates will come in future weeks.
Smart GOALS
Specific: Develop an easy-to-use mobile/tablet app that helps travelers navigate through large airports.
Measurable: 100K unique downloads & 50K active users, on apple and android platforms, by the end of summer, 2023.
Achievable: Yes. The plan is to adopt a phased approach. The features would be incrementally delivered to the market. Summer, 2023 is an achievable goal for phase 1 which delivers the basic functionality to the users.
Relevant: Given the hassle, travelers must go through while navigating at airports, this app would be ideally placed to create a market of its own.
Timebound: This app is aimed to be live by the start of Summer (June),2023.
Section 2 - Project Resource Management Plan
Skill Sets:
[For this sectionyou will be focused on the human resources elements of the plan. You will want to identify the various qualifications/skill sets necessary in your project, align them with the project work, and identify roles that will be recruited for them. You do not need to yet list out the number of roles necessary for this work, only the general roles. For example, I may need 2 Master Electricians for my project but I will only list out Master Electrician in this section and place the number of roles we need to acquire in a later section. Some of this you may have thought through in Weeks 4 and 5 or other assignments and now that you are giving it more thought, may change. That is ok! In the real world we would tackle this prior to baselining the project; however, due to the way the PMBOK is organized and the brevity of the course, we're doing this in a different order.]
| Qualifications/ Competencies Needed | Associated Project Work | Role Title and/or Level |
| Example: 10+ years of electrician experience, current electrical license in the state of Colorado, fluent in both English and Spanish | Install electrical lines in all floors of the house OR WBS/User Story Task 1.2.1, 2.2.2 | Master Electrician |
Project Organizational Structure:
[Create a visualization of the human resources in your project that is structured hierarchically. Suggest doing this in a separate program such as PowerPoint, Visio, etc. and then pasting in an image of the final result.]
Staffing Management Plan:
[Leverage the table below to highlight how your project will acquire and release the human resources. Remember, your team has options when it comes to acquisition: you may choose to hire, borrow, or even contract out the resources and there can be a decision as to whether the resources will be aligned to your project full-time, part-time, or by a set number of hours.]
| Resource | Acquisition Plan | Release Plan |
Resource Calendars:
[What days/times/time zones will your resources be available to work on this project? Are there known time periods when the resources will not be working, i.e. over winter holidays for example.Get creative here!]
Training Requirements AND Regulations, Standards, & Policy Compliance:
[What must be accomplished for a resource to be able to be fully functional and free to do their job on the project? Do they need any training, for example, on a particular piece of software or equipment? Will they need badge access and subsequent security training to enter a job site?Do they need to sign a NDA?Again, use your real world experiences, creative minds, and do a little digging on the Internet to see what your group can come up with here!]
Rewards and Recognition:
[We've spent some significant time in class over the past 6 weeks discussing the more human elements of project management. As a group, think about how you will keep your project team and stakeholders engaged and enthusiastic about this project. How will the organization show its appreciation and excitement?]
Equipment/Materials Resource Identification and Estimates:
[Leverage the table below to highlight how your project will acquire and release the equipment and materials.]
| Resource | Acquisition Plan | Release Plan |
Equipment/Materials Management Plan:
[Fill out the below table with the description of the equipment/materials needed, any required/recommended specifications, quantity, and how you will be obtaining them.]
