Question 1 Phoenix Berhad is facing a problem in the company. Many of their managers rise through rank and file and thus have never received formal managerial skills training. The employees are complaining that proper planning was not done, some of the managers are brusque in their approach and lack people skills. Additionally, some of the older managers are refusing to adopt to changes and insist their subordinates follow their old-school ways of doing work which are not efficient, although effective. This has led to tension between the younger subordinates and the managers in the company. After some discussions, it was agreed that the company should send the managers to attend trainings that will equip them with leadership skills as well as knowledge on new work systems that would help them understand and appreciate the use of technology in doing their job. Assume that you are the HR Senior Executive tasked to come up with a proposal for the training programs. As part of the proposal, you are required to prepare answers to the following questions so that the top management will be convinced that the training is worth investing in. N 2 a.
