Submit a Self-Development Plan for strengthening your role as a woman in leadership or how to plan to support women in leadership roles.
Prepare to write your self-development plan and do each of the bulleted items below, as you will need to reference them in your journal!
Click here for a free version of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment online. Learning about your type helps support your leadership/professional performance goals. Complete the assessment and be sure to write down your four-letter type code.
Click here for the official Myer's-Briggs website. At the top of the page, you will see a pull-down menu option entitled "MBTI Types". Select your type using the four-letter code you wrote down and read about your type and use this as a helpful framework to write your plan.
Click here to learn about the 7 areas that you can develop as an employee and leader. This will be helpful as it gives not only illustrates how you may already be demonstrating something but also provides suggestions for ways to improve. Additionally, there are suggestions for how you can develop your staff in these areas (important for leaders who want to increase diversity in the workplace!).
Click here to view best practices organizations follow when they are going through the process of self-development planning with employees. While the website is written with that in mind in some areas, the overarching content is focused on the employee and is very useful for this assignment!
View the attached Personal Leadership Plan template and use this as a reference to write your document. Students are not expected to create charts for this assignment. Simply create a Word document that is double-spaced. Feel free to use headers to organize your work!

Writing your plan
Students will research via the ODU Library website and find two peer-reviewed articles about women in leadership. You can focus on the industry you plan to work in or currently work in. If this is not available, websites may be used.
This will help frame your discussion. If you have personal experience related to being a woman in leadership or witnessing a woman in leadership at your workplace and it is related to the plan, please feel free to include this in the paper!
If you do not know how to complete a search, use the library website here and under "Monarch OneSearch" select the article tab and then type in "women in leadership and the industry name". That should bring up some good things for you to read! If you still need help, there is a hatbox on the upper right corner of the page for you to chat with a librarian
In your plan, please be sure to use the things you've learned in the last three modules as it relates to women in leadership as another foundation for the document. Be sure to include how you as a woman in leadership will address these plans or if you do not identify as a woman, how you will support women in the workplace.
This should be submitted as a double-spaced Word document. Because you are using two reference points, be sure to cite them appropriately in your paper and have a reference page. You can use either APA or MLA for this formatting.
Lastly, have fun with this! You will be able to use this as a springboard for your professional development after this class ends!
