summarize. I feel that this image could be used to describe American life then, and now also. The image depicts the working population carrying the rest of society on its shoulders. While there has always been "old money" (and always will be), the fact remains that the working class is what keeps the economy going. Money has to come from somewhere... selling goods, providing services, etc. Without the working class to provide these things, even old money will run out eventually. Additionally, the image depicts the upper levels going on about their lives with no regard to those beneath them. It is not my opinion that all members of the upper class behave this way, but it is the sad truth that a significant amount of them do
