case study : The $80-20$ Rule

Jorge is a medical imaging technician at a small company. When he arrived at work on Wednesday, the $15$th$,$ he found the following on a to$-$do list from his supervisor:

$1.$ Dr$.$ Salinas has asked you to squeeze in an extra patient. Work her in around $3$ p$.$m$.$

$2.$ Call patients to remind them of their appointment tomorrow.

$3.$ Take your annual TB test before the end of the month.

$4.$ Complete the required blood borne pathogens training before the end of the month.

$5.$ Stock the supply cabinet for next week's work.

Jorge already has seven patients on his schedule and, with the emergency patient, he will have eight. It takes him $50$ minutes to run the test on each patient, and he has to change the linens and assure that hazardous waste such as used needles or other supplies are disposed of properly. Additionally, Jorge's supervisor has told him that all overtime allotted for the week has been used so he is not allowed to stay late to complete any of the assigned

tasks.
