Systems engineering methodology was described in Week $1$ as $$the science of designing complex systems in their totality to ensure the component subsystems making up the system are designed, fitted together, checked and operated in the most efficient way$.$

The systems engineering methodology follows a series of stages that closely parallel those of the project life cycle and systems development life cycle $$ the logical process employed in the evolution of a system.
