For this task you are provided with a business scenario and as a manager in the business you are asked to provide a plan for developing cultural competence in the team.

Scenario $1$: Northland Tourism Business

You have just purchased a Northland tourism business and will be the manager.

The business includes a mountain bike cycle way that travels through local forest and along the coastal pathways, a large souvenir shop selling local art and a flourishing caf$.$

As a foreigner purchasing the business you realise you will need to develop connections and an awareness of cultural competence to ensure the business is sustainable and supported by the local community. You also know little about te Tiriti o Waitangi.

a$)$ To achieve this, you need to research what other businesses in New Zealand have done to develop and embed cultural competence in their business and describe your findings.

Note: You are embedding cultural competence to ensure you meet the bicultural principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi in your business.
