Question: Task 5 : Absorption ( 1 0 P ) Biogas consists of the following compounds: methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen ( see table ) .

Task 5: Absorption (10P)
Biogas consists of the following compounds: methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, oxygen (see table).
Before Biogas is fed to the natural gas pipeline, carbon dioxide has to be removed from the stream of
gas down to a loading of Y,CO2=0.06molmol. The removal of carbon dioxide is carried out with
absorption process using an ionic liquid (IL) as absorption media. The absorption media after the
desorber holds a residual load of x,CO2=0.025molmol before entering the absorption column.
Additionally assume that only carbon dioxide is absorbed.
Composition of biogas:
e) Draw a flow chart for the scrubbing of flue gas with all relevant streams and loads (absorption
and following desorption).(3P)
f) Determine the minimum stream of absorbent media. The volumetric flow rate of the carrier gas
stream is G0=150kmolh.(2P)
g) Determine the number of theoretical stages for the absorption process. The real solvent ratio is
two times the minimum solvent ratio. (3P)
h) The IL is to be regenerated with a pure stripping agent. Draw a possible operating line
("Arbeitsgerade") for the desorption process as a dashed line in the given load diagram. (2P)
Task 5: Absorption (10P) Biogas consists of the following compounds: methane,
