PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

A new Highway Autonomous Vehicle (HAV) System -- Youtuber HAV -- is being developed. It incorporates the perfect mix of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Social Media.

Youtuber HAV allows the user to select the requisite speed and destination exit number on any interstate highway in the U.S. from a menu provided through an on-board LCD display. The vehicle will then be autonomously driven to approximately 100 yards from the selected exit within a certain speed tolerance.. The Youtuber HAV system will start notifying the driver to get ready to resume control 5 miles from the exit. The Youtuber HAV will provide for manual override and resume functions in situations where the user wants to request control.. The Youtuber HAV system will automatically pass vehicles to maintain a desired speed. The Youtuber HAV system interfaces with the vehicle through a OBDI--IV interface (an extension of OBDI--II that allows for two way communication and control/access to all on-board systems)

In order to provide services, Youtuber HAV maintains a database of all interstate highway exits numbers/names and their associated latitude/longitude which can be updated periodically when in proximity of an authenticated AP. It also provides a map display to help the user select an appropriate destination / exit. Youtuber HAV relies on a Global Positioning System receiver for locating the car's current position.

Youtuber HAV takes advantage of sensors mounted on the car. Specifically, there will be 2 cameras mounted on the front of the car and 2 cameras mounted on the back. There will be a laser range finder mounted on the front of the car and another mounted on the back. There will also be a warning radar mounted on the driver and passenger sides of the car to detect proximity to other vehicles.

Youtuber HAV additionally provides certain recording and upload capability.to document trips using the 4 cameras mounted on board as well as a voice over ability to record on-board sound within the vehicle. The user can review recordings within the display and choose forward or rear video content for upload to a user's You-tube account when in proximity to a connected WI-FI access point. There exists a process to link the HAV system to an account as well as an access point to support this uploading feature.
