You will write a proposal for your client, the Greater Toronto Astronomy Club (GTAC). Your client contact is Mr. Quincy Wellworth, the clubs Outreach Coordinator. His email address is qwellworth@gtac.ca.
Your message should be formatted as an email (please use the template provided under Useful Links). Your email should include headings for the sections identified in bold font.
Start with a salutation: Dear Mr. Wellworth:
Introduction: Which 2 existing software tools will you investigate on behalf of your client, the Greater Toronto Astronomy Club (GTAC)? This section does not need a heading.
Background: What are the clients needs, as you understand them? How do the 2 software tools you chose connect to the clients needs?
Project description:
How will you analyze the software tools you have chosen, and what are the points on which you will compare them? (Will you research the software online/ through the library? Will you sign up for a free trial to test the software?)
What will you produce for this project? (Please review the guidelines for the report and infographic these are what you are going to produce!) Outline your plans for the report structure and focus of the infographic.
References: What sources have you consulted so far to help you choose 2 software tools (minimum 3 sources required)? What sources do you plan to consult as you continue to research these tools? Your references list should be in APA style.
Benefits: How will your report and infographic help your client to decide what software to use? Be specific.
Timeline: Which team members are responsible for which tasks and by what deadlines? When and how often will your team meet to work on the project? Be as specific as possible. At minimum, your plan should include responsibilities, tasks, and deadlines for the following project phases:
Researching the topic and planning to create the report and infographic
Drafting the report and infographic (due Mar. 19)
Revision of the report and infographic
Source and citation checking
Final edit of the report and infographic (due Apr.02)
Preparation for the oral presentation (Apr.09 or Apr. 16)
Budget: Are there any anticipated costs? Will you be able to access free trials for software, or are there fees? If your team decides to pay for software access, how much will it cost?
