Design for Assembly is the process to simplify an assembly. More time to assemble parts, the higher costs associated to labor. The file that is linked above has 4 assemblies. For each image A through D, determine the minimum part count required to shorten assembly time. Can you redesign the assembly to eliminate major components? Can you redesign to eliminate fasteners? In image B we will assume the need to remove the lid from the base and in image C assume that the purpose is to cover the hole in the base plate. Image D is an electrical connector plate. Can you redesign for quicker connection? Submission: You will submit a pdf with the following information . Clean / clear presentation . Create an isometric view of the new assembly or part. . Create an exploded isometric view showing trace lines to demonstrate where/how each component fits together. . Isometric views can be created with CAD or neatly drawn by hand using a straight edge (ruler / scale / triangles / etc.) to draw straight lines. . Identify the number of new parts that are now required - Explain why components have been removed or reason for new design Example below provides the idea of minimal part count
