The Assignment:

Your assignment is to present a 2-3 minute speech presenting an award to a famous person. You need to identify an invention, accomplishment, or service worthy of receiving an award. The famous person can be alive or dead, fictional or real. Try to be creative with your choice. You must choose a person, not an animal or object.

Refer to chapter 18 for additional guidelines. At a minimum, your speech should have an attention getter, main points and examples, and a strong conclusion.

The presentation:

You should stand to deliver your speech. Your speech should be delivered extemporaneously with an outline. Use a conversational style of delivery. Practice your presentation several times. Time your speech when you practice so you know you are within the time limits.
