After reviewing, respond to the following questions:

1. In order to understand the types of stakeholders that exist at BP, identify one example of an enabling stakeholder, a normative stakeholder, a functional stakeholder, and a diffused stakeholder, and provide a brief description of each.

2. Review this ABC News segment: Tony Hayward's Failed Leadership (Time: 3:46, transcript) and the CNN Segment below: Hayward's Downfall (Time: 3:10, closed captions available from Amara). Based on this information, describe how BP interacted with each of the stakeholders identified in the first requirement. Do you believe that BP waited too long to remove Tony Hayward? Support your response.

3. The purpose of a code of conduct is to provide employees with guidance on appropriate behavior with the ultimate goal of positively impacting stakeholder relationships. Review the BP Values & Code of Conduct section of their website and select two areas where Tony Hayward failed. If you were hired by BP as an advisor to Tony Hayward during this difficult time, how would you advise him to act in his role and with the press in order to improve the damaged relationships?

4. As a result of the oil disaster, BP launched a renewed focus on social responsibility through its sustainability focus. Review the BP Sustainability Report (Quick Read) and select one of the topic areas. Next, discuss how BP approaches the topic that you selected, your opinion as to their effectiveness, and how a focus in this area could have either prevented the Gulf disaster or reduced the strain on its stakeholder relationships.
