The (Capability Maturity Model Integrated) CMMI model offers both a staged and continuous representation. Each representation uses the same process areas, so the main differences between the two aren't the actual process areas. Each must offer some advantages (or disadvantages) compared to the other that makes then useful or authoritative in different situations. As industrial engineers, we can use these representations to help evaluate and guide our organizations toward higher levels of maturity and capability.
