Question:
The Computerworld Mart has four branches with two Category I and two Category II measures.
Cat I 1=labor per month (in 100 hours)
Cat I 2=cost per month (US$1000s)
Cat II 1=sales per month (units)
Cat II 2= customer satisfaction (%)
The data for each branch are available, as follows.
Branch | Cat II | Cat I | ||

B | 487 | 80 | 28 | 54 |
C | 750 | 73 | 42 | 96 |
D | 512 | 90 | 30 | 60 |
- Formulate an Excel model to evaluate the performance of Branches.
- Replace the Cat II sales per month by another Cat II measure dollar sales per month (product of sales and price in US$ 375 per unit. Compute the performance of Branches again.
- Dollar sales equivalent value in Euros is needed to evaluate the performances of those branches. Compute the performance of Branches again using the data in Euros.
- Compare the three performance scores and interpret the differences or similarities in those scores.
Exercise 1 (b)
Suppose in the above problem, you are going to specify some additional restrictions on the weights (e.g., your personal preference between the two Cat. II measures). Repeat a-d in the problem 1. (Please also discuss/post your “weight restrictions” at the Discussion Board.)
