Question:
The COTTONSOL company, located in Seville, produces cotton make-up remover discs and make-up remover sticks, as well as other cotton-based hygiene items. It is considering installing an establishment of the "POP-UP" ??type in a location on Calle Sierpes in Seville, which would offer promotions for aesthetic treatments using the brand's own products. This establishment would have 4 rooms: reception, cabin, toilet and storage.
The planned weekly displacements (in hundreds) are as follows:
RECEPCIN | CABIN | toilet | storage | |
RECEPCIN | 3 | 3 | 5 | |
CABIN | 3 | 3 | ||
toilet | 4 | 3 | ||
storage | 5 | 4 |
The two layouts offered by the construction company are the following:
Layout 1: put the rooms one next to the other following the order reception, cabin, toilet, storage. The distance between centers of stays is 5 steps.
Layout 2: place the reception and the cabin on one side of the corridor, and on the other side, in front of the previous ones, the toilet and the warehouse. The distance between room centers is 3 steps horizontally, 4 steps vertically, and 5 steps diagonally.
Question 1 (1.5 points):
Knowing that you want to have as much time as possible to spend demonstrating the articles, determine which of the two layouts you find more interesting by indicating its value.
What is the value in displacements x steps of the chosen option?
In Figure 1 we show the flow of a manufacturing process for make-up remover discs. In stations 2 and 3 there are two identical machines in each of them to be able to process a greater number of units.
Figure 1. Flowchart of the process ( this exercise was translated from the spanish language i couldn't translate this figure: estacion means station & maquina is machine)
