The current intelligence cycle has been very useful over the last century with its constant, reiterative, step-by-step, cyclical feedback loop that addresses requirements, and provides warning and intelligence information for the IC's consumers. Some criticize this legacy intelligence cycle for its simplicity, slow response, and lack of agility.

Given the multiple agencies, varied systems, diverse objectives, and expanding partnerships the intelligence cycle may no longer be one size fits all. The large volumes of streaming multi-source information continues to significantly increase and inundate the intelligence cycle.

With the many changes impacting the IC like cyber threats, open source intelligence collection, streaming video and emerging technologies, how relevant is the traditional intelligence cycle? Is there a need for an alternative intelligence process such as a multi-directional loop or matrix model; or can technology provide a solution?
