The curriculum is the heart of any educational system. It defines what students should learn and how they should learn it. The curriculum is shaped by a variety of factors, both external and internal to the classroom.  It is important to understand the factors that control the curriculum and the constraints that these factors place on teaching and learning. By understanding these factors, we can work to create curriculums that are more responsive to the needs of students and teachers.
