The D2L website contains an Excel file of motor vehicle deaths for 49 states and the District of Columbia. The response variable (Y) is motor vehicle deaths and the remaining columns are possible predictors. The variables included are: region (a two column character variable), number of deaths, number of drivers (x 10-4), number of persons per square mile, miles of rural roads (x 10-3), indicator of more male than female drivers (a one column indicator of N versus Y), normal January maximum temperature, and highway fuel consumption (gallons x 107). 1. Generate the linear regression model for deaths versus drivers. Assess whether the assumptions of the linear regression model are met. 2.
