The first function that organisational culture performs is providing group members with a sense of identity. The culture of an organisation provides its members with a way to 'define who we are.' Because the culture of every organisation is unique, being a part of an organisation gives members a sense of identity that is shared only by the people who belong to that organisation. With reference to the issues raised in the article, critically discuss the functions of organisational culture, potential negative implications of organisational culture and strategies of maintaining organisational culture, considering contemporary challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
