The political economy of many of the world's nation states has changed dramatically over the past quarter century. Two major trends have been the wave of democratically elected governments and the strong move away from centrally planned and mixed economies to a more free market economic model. XYZ Baseball Glove Manufacturing estimates total factory overhead of $240,000 and total direct labor costs of $200,000 for the year. They use the plantwide overhead rate to apply overhead costs to baseball gloves. The direct labor cost to manufacture a baseball glove is $100.
