The normative decision model views leadership as a decision-making process in which the leader examines certain factors in the situation to determine which decision-making style will be the most effective. The five decision-making styles in the model are based on the degree of participation by group members; from to least to most they are:

Decide,

Consult (Individually),

Consult (Group),

Facilitate, and

Delegate.
