AP Physics 1-Marble Joy Lab Purpose: To verify the laws of Conservation of Momentum and Conservation of Energy in elastic collisions through the use of Kinematics and Forces. Ball Arulls Equipment: down the ramp. Metal Ramp Metal Ball Bearing (x2) 4. Ball A collides with lal Plum Bob 3. Ball And nd e Table Clamps Meter Stick Таре Photo Gates Electronic Scale Carbon Paper Other materials upon request. Experimental Set-up: Ball A will begin at the top of the metal ramp. Ball B will begin at the end of the metal ramp. The ramp will be kept at a constant angle of inclination and secured to the lab table. Ball A will be released from the same position on each trial. The two metal ball bearings will collide in a glancing, elastic collision and launch off the table top at separate angles in the horizontal plane. Carbon paper will be used to track where each ball lands. In the experiment, two metal ball bearings are initially at rest on the ramp apparatus as illustrated in Figure 1.
