The principles that most resonated with me in reading GU's Mission was supporting students into becoming effective communicators. One of my greatest personal growth goals is to become a master communicator. Communication and the ability to connect people is$,$ in my opinion, one of the most important skills we can acquire in life. As a younger man, l often looked at communication as a secondary skill, as I had no issues approaching or being approached by others. It was not until I joined the workforce that I began to see how imperative it is to understand and be understood by others. I also understood that the way I chose to communicate with others directly influenced any success or failures that i would experience.
