The Project is :
A network solution needs to be designed for the JAN Hospital Group. Each consulting team must
evaluate the hospital's requirements and design a practical solution. At the end of the term, each team will
present their designs in class. Teams should be prepared to answer questions on their design decisions and
justify their costs. The design considered to be the best will be awarded the contract.
The Client
The JAN Hospital Group has operated in New Providence for over 25 years. Over the years, JAN has
expanded from a single location to a three-building main campus and satellite locations in Sea Breeze,
Cable Beach, and Freeport, Grand Bahama. The teams network proposal must take into consideration the
following design factors and client requirements:
The hospital campus has a main building (block) and two wards. The main block is the administrative
block, where new patient registration occurs. The main block has four floors. JAN has identified a backoffice management suite, which should be accessible to all employees. The software will be installed on a
server in the computer room on the second floor of the administrative block. On the ground floor are ten
computers in the billing and operations department and three in the reception area. The remaining floors
hold administrative and doctor offices. Each floor has 20 offices (20 computers, 20 printers). The wards
and satellite offices have two floors each, with 15 computers and five printers on each floor. The number
of computers may be increased based on future expansion plans.
The main building, wards, and satellite offices will have wireless access points to which hospital guests
can connect for Internet access. Two or more high-speed Internet connections are available at the
administrative building and satellite offices for guest and administrative use. All guest and company
devices (except for servers and appliances) should receive dynamic IP addressing. A practical business
continuity solution is needed to ensure that if operations are disrupted, the company can recover and
resume operations.
Design a network that connects JANs main administrative building with its wards and satellite offices.

Router placement and basic configuration (WAN, LAN, PAN, WAP, Default route, Gateways)
The network is to be segregated into guest and staff
The guest network should not have access to the staff network.
Create a backup and Disaster Recovery Procedure to ensure continued operations (Cloud)
Include an engagement letter outlining the network design deliverables and timelines.
