Following the template, you will describe, as completely as possible, all of the components required. There are two parts project.

You will be required to conduct research on your product. Please use as much primary and secondary data as possible.

Each report should be considered a detailed report to the senior management team that requires approval. Justification of the product or service viability and its method of production should be the key objectives of the final report.

Product Development Strategy: Complete a SWOT Analysis or another strategic analytical tool to analyze your product. Identify critical areas within the analysis that must be addressed and will be focus points for the project Identify the areas which are the most challenging related to operations management and why	10
Operation Strategy: Create an operations mission statement Explain what your companys overall choice of operational strategy is from the three main choices. Why was this strategy chosen? How does your product strategy support this choice?	10
Manufacturing (or Services) Design: Explanation of how the product/service will be created to add value to the customer Use diagrams where appropriate Explanation must be clear; the reader has no prior information about the product/service. Outline each step in the creation, how it generates value, and use terms from the textbook.	5
Quality What overall definition of quality is your management team using in your approach to this product or service, and why? Document the anticipated quality issues with your product. Create two significant strategies to mitigate quality issues using methods explained in the text and/or other sources. What is your quality standard for this product or service? How are you going to measure quality to ensure standards are being met?	20

Process Strategy:

Create a process map depicting the design of the manufacturing or service.

Include any technology that would be utilized to make the process more efficient.

Briefly explain the productivity gained by investing in technology.

Layout Strategy

Choose a type of layout from Chapter 9 that best suits your product or service and explain the critical characteristics and the reasons for choosing the layout and type.

Provide diagrams if possible.

Supply Chain Management:

Identify 3-4 of your most critical supply chain partners.

Explain why they are the most critical partners in the supply chain.

Determine the level of integration with each partner.

Evaluate and document the potential risk with the level of integration.

Are there added/reduced costs with more or less integration?

Determine the general location of each partner and why.

Evaluate the risks associated with the location.

Are there added/reduced costs with the location chosen versus other options.

Determine the best delivery method of the partners product or service and explain why.

LEAN Operations:

From Chapter 16 or other sources choose at least one LEAN methodology to improve the processes for the production or service creating additional competitive advantage(s).

Explain how you would implement the theory.

Explain the benefit you believe will be gained and why.
