The qualitative approach I chose was the Delphi method. The RAND Corporation developed the Delphi method in the 1950s to increase the accuracy of nuclear targeting in the United States (Humphrey-Murto & de Wit, 2019). According to Humphrey-Murto and de Wit (2019), the Delphi method is a structured communication method used to collect information for research from experts in their field. The Delphi method aims to reach a formal consensus through a series of questions known as rounds (Humphrey-Murto & de Wit, 2019). Hasson and Keeney (2011) introduced enhancing rigor in the Delphi technique in their peer-reviewed study. According to Hasson and Keeney (2011), the holy grail of research is establishing methodological rigor. The study by Hasson and Keeney (2011) suggests that researchers are responsible for ensuring that their research is conducted systematically and rigorously.

I chose the Delphi method to gather expert opinions on complex or uncertain issues. The Delphi method will also help to reach a consensus on complex issues. Additionally, since the experts will remain anonymous, they are more likely to share their opinions and feedback without fear of being judged or ridiculed. Obtaining group thinking and feedback should also reduce any bias and help promote creativity and innovation.
