Intrusion detection systems are designed to gathers and analyzes information from various areas within a computer or a network to identify possible security intrusions.

Search the peer-reviewed literature to discuss at first instance, various types of IDS you are familiar with. Discuss its main components and using appropriate examples from literature, establish how occurrence of such was handled in real life. Include, in your description, an analysis of what might have caused the problems and potential solutions to them. Be sure to provide supporting evidence, with citations from the literature.
