Deontological ethics and nonmaleficence are the ethical dilemmas faced in this case. Deontological ethics is duty-based ethics and is approached as an obligation. Nonmaleficence is an ethical principle that requires caregivers to avoid causing patients harm. It is the physician's duty to do what's best for the patient. For doctors, continuing life-sustaining treatment for patients who are beyond saving is emotionally taxing - and in some cases, can even violate their oath to "do no harm" to their patients. Doctors say it's wrong to continue measures that cannot meaningfully help the patient. The hospital and physician see the patient as dead so they see it fit to remove the ventilator. This is also a moral dilemma for the family because they still see their child as alive
