The steel column, S275 356 x171 x 45 kg/m UB is welded onto a 400 mm (width) x 400 mm (depth) S275 base plate as shown in Figure Q2. You are required to undertake the following tasks: a) If no base plate is provided and the steel column is placed onto the concrete stump directly, what would be the ultimate stress.
