The structural analysis section of the report (clearly labelled as Part B - Structural Analysis) will contain information about the individually investigated component and should include the following: Information or bullet points of who (student) has modelled what part of the system, Overview of the modelled part (CAD model) highlighting required features and simplifications, Information of the dynamics loads acting on the component (ADAMS plots), Information of the applied boundary condition on the component (supports and loads, what, where, how) Information on the meshing of the component (show standard mesh first) and any refinement that was made, where and why, Presentation of the results from the FE analysis, including reasoning of selected output parameters (stress, strain, displacement, why), A discussion of any limitations of the analysis (how valid are the results, what is the impact of the simplifications, what can the simulation not be used for / predict), and Brief recommendations for improvements of the component and analysis. Please note: Marks will be awarded for the approach of how the component is analysed and not on how complex the component is. Information should be centred on what was done, not how it was done (no step-by-step description of how to). Where appropriate, basic calculations should be used to support data for / from modelling process. Results should be discussed and, where possible, reasoned or verified by alternative methods or sources. There will be no marks for anything else, like reviews of history or design development.
