The Top Ten shall be submitted to the professor using a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet made up of four (4) columns as outlined below:

1. The first column will identify the provision and section of the contract
2. The second column will contain the current contract language
3. The third column will have the language in the proposal
4. The fourth column will have the "target", i.e. what you want to achieve through negotiations.

1.Expansion of Covered Relatives:We would like to see and make sure that employees aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins are added as eligible relatives for whom employees can take unpaid leave under FMLA.

2.Additional Paid Leave:We would like to see and make sure that employees have an extra two weeks of paid leave specifically designated for family medical purposes within the calendar year from January 1 to December 31.

3. Flexible Leave Year:We would like to see and make sure that Instead of employees using the calendar year, I would propose allowing employees to choose their own 12-month leave period based on their individual circumstances.

4. Use of Sick Leave:We would like to see and make sure that employees be allowed to use their accrued sick leave during any absence related to caring for a family member with a serious health condition.

5. Non-substitution of Paid Leave:We would like to see and make sure that employees cannot be forced to use their earned paid leave instead of unpaid FMLA leave without their consent.

6. Seniority Accrual:We would like to see and make sure that employees should continue to accrue seniority for all purposes during their FMLA leave period.

7. Intermittent or Reduced Schedule Basis:employees taking FMLA leave for specific reasons should have the option to take leave on an intermittent or reduced schedule basis voluntarily.

8. We would like to see and make sure thatemployee is only required to show medical documents by their primary doctor and cannot be required to get a second medical opinion.

9. We would like to see and make sure thatemployer guarantees the old position first. However, if the old position is not available, then and only then, another comparable* position must be offered.

10. We would like to see and make sure thatthe employer makes payments of all insurance contributions during the leave.
