There are growing concerns that exposure to tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship (TAPS) is a risk factor of youth e-cigarette use. To investigate, researchers surveyed school students aged 11-17 years to collect data on their use of electronic and combustible cigarettes. The research team identified cases of vaping and non vapers, and then interviewed the students about their exposure to TAPS. The table below presents the study findings. Table 4.1: Students who vape and their exposure to tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship Exposure to tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship (TAPS) Youth vaping yes no yes 125 175 no 75 225 200 400 a) Name the measure of association that would be most appropriate to assess the data for an association between the TAPS exposure and youth vaping. (2 marks) b) Calculate the appropriate measure of association (3 marks). c) Interpret your result (2 marks). d) What does this tell us based on the study results? (1 mark).
